Unsigned – Bamboo kiseruzutsu

A bamboo kiseruzutsu of musozutsu form, the front carved to created flattened depressions which have been filled with a minutely incised and inked Kannon-kyo Sutra (The Avalokitesvara Sutra), the 25th chapter of the Lotus Sutra, considered by many to be the most important chapter. It tells in both prose and verse of the Kannon’s readiness to help those in need.
The mouth of the lower section is banded with metal.
