A yew-wood ittobori (single-blade carving) netsuke of a water fowl, the feather patterns described in simplified hatched lines and parallel knife strokes. The outlines of the webbed feet are lightly sketched below. The natural colouration of the wood lends a pale cap to its plumage. The eyes are inlaid with dark horn beads.
