A boldly carved Kurumi (walnut) netsuke depicting a powerful dragon, its sinuous body weaving in and out of clouds in this dynamic piece. The celestial creature’s head dominates the design and it clasps a tama in its three-toed claw.

Signed: 六十七翁　正や (Rokujunana o Seiya), Seiya, an old man of 67 years.
