Rustic netsuke of a Daruma
A pleasingly rustic netsuke of a disgruntled Daruma, clearly unhappy at being disturbed from his long years of meditation. Wrapped tightly in his robe, legend records that his legs atrophied from lack of use and his dismay is a subject of affectionate amusement in his Japanese incarnations. Years of handling has worn away most of the original paint, leaving it with a pleasing patina.
