A Chin dog stands on a ring cushion as it displays its resplendent shaggy coat. The curled tail falls in thick tresses over its back as its turns to look over its shoulder. Long whiskers fall from the sides its mouth
and the short ears flop forwards. A lap-dog of the Chinese nobility, they were sometimes gifted to foreigners and diplomats held in great favour.
