A fierce tengu no tamago bursts out of its shell, the right arm reaching back to ease its wing from the confines of the egg. The left wing, already free, is spread out for the feathers to dry. Despite the fact it is a hatchling, the emerging creature appears very adult and masterful, the wide beak stretching wide, the eyes set in a determined stare and with slicked back strands of hair trailing over its shoulders.
