Jushu? - wood netsuke of a horse [SOLD]
circa 1830
A wood netsuke of a horse balancing on three legs as it raises its hind leg to scratch at its cheek, swinging its head down in an elegant sweep. Its long tail trails down to meet its feet and the mane falls in thick tresses along its neck.
Signed on the rump, the signature is tentatively read as Jushu, but the second character is worn. No other work appears to be recorded with this artist’s name.
